This is a traditional street corner local which has been here for around 150 years serving the network of terraced houses that sprung up here around that time. A plaque outside says it's an Ansell's Heritage Pub, a now long forgotten catalogue, but such a classification would be appropriate to this day. Very little has changed here in decades, some would say that includes some of the customers. Two rooms have been knocked into the present L-shaped layout at some point, with the former public bar at the front still discernible from the best room along the side. Indeed that part still has the electric bell pushes to summon table service which were a common feature fro a period. It remains popular with the locals, and can get rammed later on Saturday nights and is worth a visit at a quieter time for the various architectural oddities. St Austell Tinners has been the only real ale for years, don't ask me why.

A white rendered corner pub, with extension and black paintwork, that looks a bit like a semi-detached house!

The interior is an L-shaped room around the bar. It is a generally traditional pub, in white and beige, with tiled fireplace, chessboard floor and old local photos on the walls. There was darts and Sky TV. Service was functional, the clientele few - it was very quiet.

Beer; all tap stuff other than a single handpull - this was dispensing St Austell Tinners, which was fine.

This was a nice enough place, worth popping into, but could do with another real ale.
