As Steve says below, this still has the appearance of a bogstandard town centre pub; it has all the appearance internally of a downmarket Taylor Walker or Stonegate pub. But it did have three ales on - Brain's Rev James; St Austell Tribute, and Doom Bar. The Rev James was in excellent condition as it happens, and was in better condition by my asking for it to be served sans sparkler. Food is big business here, with most people eating during my lunchtime visit. I didn't bother to look at a menu, but the food being served up to other punters appeared to be standard pub grub.

I didn't visit in the evening, so can't comment on the atmosphere then. But at lunchtime on a warm sunny day the garden was very busy, as you would expect. It's not the sort of place where I would choose to spend an evening, but at lunchtime a well served pint in the garden went down very well indeed.

Tenby House situated on the south side of the main Tudor Square in the central part of Tenby.
It is a decent looking bright Regency building in keeping with a lot of the others in the town and it was originally a medieval coaching-inn known as The Globe Inn and then was developed by Sir William Paxton for use as his family home in 1802.
But don’t go expecting period features inside matching the history of this place or you will be disappointed. What you actually get is a large fairly dark, wood paneled, long one room expanse in several sections with the bar area at the front , seating in the middle to the left and the right and then a pool table in a games section at the end. And beyond this is the courtyard and alley way which has its own bar area.
And in a town of several pubs, void of a Wetherspoons, this place seems to have the vibe to fill that gap. By which I mean that during the day it more resembles a family restaurant than a pub with a typical pub food menu reasonably priced aimed at bringing them in, and then in the evening it transforms into a crèche for the local youngsters and I imagine is the nearest thing to a nightclub in the town, playing loud music, bouncers patrolling the front doors and a late licence staying open till 1.00AM on a weekend.
In fact the only thing missing is the ale choice to be found in ‘spoons establishments, but at least The Tenby House does complement the chrome fiz taps with a couple of hand pumps and these were Worthingtons Cask and Brains SA.
But the real shocker to me was that this place is actually marketed as an 18 room Regency hotel and a look at the web site link below gives you no clues that this is a pub pretending to be a hotel. If you knew what this place was really like I cannot understand why anyone would chose to stay here, unless you do need incessant thumping base from the pub below to lull you to sleep. Fortunately, as a hotel it is slaughtered on trip adviser, so anyone computer literate shouldn’t make the mistake of booking in here inadvertently.
Good for kids in the evening and good for families on a budget during the day. For anyone else there are a lot better pubs in Tenby.
