An interesting old canal warehouse which has been sympathetically converted into what is really a restaurant but does have a seperate bar area where you're welcome to stop just for a drink but will be asked if you're eating.
We found the welcome friendly and the Stonehouse Bitter, occupying one of two handpumps, very good.
The menu was interesting and there is clearly a decent chef at work here although we didn't eat.
Well worth a stop if you're passing.

A pleasing exterior to this former canalside warehouse,to the left of the entrance is a bar area with the 3 handpumps and a fireplace, while to the right there is a room with a row of church pews, round tables and lots of pump clips on the walls.Beyond this the interior opens out into a restaurant where you can see the exposed beams and the large picture windows to two sides give a great view over the Montgomeryshire Canal.
There was only one handpump working on my trip with an excellent Stonehouse Station Bitter.Shame there weren't more ales available, but this was a quiet Tuesday in September .We didn't eat but food is a big draw here with meats locally sourced and the kitchen prepared to tailor dishes with anyone with dietry conditions.
Quality seems to be the watchword here,I will pay another visit when next down this stretch of waterway.
