Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Red Cow

Substantial brick-built pub set back from the main road a bit. The multi-room interior may retain some of its original form, but the two main seating areas (and side rooms) on either side of the central bar have had almost all character refurbished out of existence. However, it does still do food, with the usual separate ordering point. Also has a pair of pool tables. No real ale of course, but at least M&B Mild (£3.50) is still available from the various keg taps.

Jumping on the Desi bandwagon - after an excellent article in Pellicle Magazine.

Your not coming here for the beer - although Keg Staropramen, Cobra, Stella and an M&B mild are available.

Its the food - bring friends and go for a sharing mixed grill (the baby cow mixed grill is available for the lonely).

Definitely an experience!

This is a massive, detached pub, with patio areas. It was built on virgin ground in 1930, but there seems to have been a tradition of 'Red Cows' in Smethwick going back for decade before at least - so a license may have been transferred. The pub is a little bland for the 30s, being in plain brick and even lacks the symmetery of the time. The interior has a couple of rooms, as well as a function room/banqueting suite. The main bar room is an L-shaped room in mustard, with white upper wall and ceiling (with moulded cornice). A pool table, table footy and darts are available in one corner. There were a few TVs showing footy and the odd bit of music was mixed, at a decent level and from the jukebox. No pictures are on the walls, just a few beer posters. Around the side, but partitioned off, there is a lounge area, i think also used for dining. I didn't see a menu. The service was fine and the clientele small, but mixed. Beer; no real ale, just the usual tap stuff with a decent enough M&B MILD. Nothing for the real ale fan, but happy enough to had popped in for one.
