Maldenman has now reviewed this pub, but only after a major refurbishment, recently completed. No longer the Kingston Mill, now just "The Mill", the pub has had a much needed overhaul and has been rather brightened up. The major change for me at least, is the welcome addition of three handpumps, these were offering Adnams Jack Sprat, Oxfordshire Ales Summer Sup plus a cider, Weston's Old Rosie. A good start, non-mainstream ales and the Summer Sup was just fine, (£3.19). The ground floor is partly split level, dropping a couple of steps towards the river with the lay of the land, stairs rise up to another room, both have great Thames views from the back of the pub but sadly no rear outdoor terrace.
Carpeted throughout apart from a boarded area directly in front of the bar, some exposed brickwork, modern furniture but essentially standard height seating. Lots of beige paint and patterned wallpaper. Exposed service ducts on the ceiling.
Food is served and is reasonably priced, lasagne £4.99, mixed grill £7,79, Asian meals too, Katsu curry £6.29, beef rending £8.29.
TVs showing Wimbledon, disabled WC available.
A definite improvement to what had become a grubby wasted opportunity on the river catering mostly to students, hopefully there will be the throughpull for the real ales and cider to remain.

Rex Rattus left this review about Kingston Mill

There’s no real ale on here, just the usual array of lager fonts and the keg version of Tetley Bitter. The usual glossy food menu was on the tables, with the standard cheap pubco fare available – e.g. steak and ale pie, etc, at £5.99. When I was in on Tuesday lunchtime, a deal was advertised on a chalkboard for two meals for £5.50.
The main bar of the pub is fairly gloomy with the walls and ceiling painted a combination of dark red and black. But there is another room behind the main one overlooking the river, but unfortunately with no outside seating. This room has flagstone flooring, some very basic and quite grubby tables and chairs, plus red patterned blinds obscuring what must be a glass roof. The main room has a grubby black floor, and furnishings that wouldn’t look out of place in a 3rd rate nightclub. It just didn’t seem a comfortable or inviting enough room in which you would want to spend any length of time, although the back conservatory room is better.
I was a bit surprised that Maldenman, who works very near this pub, has neglected to visit and review it. Having now visited the pub myself, I’m no longer surprised.
