2021 - now converted to an Italian restaurant.
---
clean, tidy country pub that is popular and well known locally. opened up inside but comfortable enough though the waitress stood in the middle of the room waiting for diners was a bit unsettling. One unclipped handpump and the other turned around on a Thursday afternoon. There are better pubs in the area though it may or may not be a good restaurant- frankly i have no idea as it was my first visit and I moved on after a half of Carlsberg.

June 2015. Party of 15. Pre-booked. This is the third time over the years that we have eaten here after a walk over the last five or so years and the changes have seen peaks and troughs. Luckily the changes on the last visit were for the better. They have opened up a further section of the pub which is very beneficial because it was traditionally a tight squeeze. The bar staff were a little brusque in their handling of our drinks requests but the waitresses more than made up for that. The food and menu is not as good as it was five years ago but better than the last time we visited and I would classify as tasty, well proportioned and moderate value for money. Not all the pub favourites were catered for but the menu did have some nice variations 9couple of fish dishes were worthy of note). We were there early Saturday evening and it was quite busy throughout and also there was a singer entertaining later that night. We had left by this point.
All-in-all a pleasant experience.
