Resurrected after trying times it appears to have escaped the clutches of Marstons. Partly a good thing but it's trying to reposition itself as a dining pub and the beer quality seems to have suffered, didn't try the food so hopefully that's better than the beer.

Reopened after a long period of closure firstly with a caretaker manager and then in spring 09 with a friendly and enthusiastic couple. A friendly village pub with the usual horse brass and pewter mug style of décor. Reasonable Ringwood and Jennings Cumberland Ale on two out of the four pumps, along with a fairly standard line up of kegs, Fosters, Strongbow, Guinness, Marstons Smooth and 1664, other guest ales from the Marstons stable. Large dining room at the rear with a single multi area bar in the front including darts in an alcove. Food served and the comments from other punters were very positive. Retains the old opening hours with an afternoon closing during the week.
