Not long reopened and situated on an incredibly picturesque location, huddled into the cliff face just before it curves into the bay; standing outside you can transport yourself back 100 years. Sadly not a great deal of interest inside - stone walls and a pewter bar top are the highlights. Feels like they need to get in some pub decor ASAP. I almost swerved drinking here as the plain servery sported just two lager pumps, however set back on the left side are some barrels, two of which were on serving Bass (NBSS 3.5) and one from Bluestone. We were very lucky to grab a warm grave at the bay window seat with super views over the harbour as the darkness descended; I can well-imagine what a great feel there’d be in this seat on a windy night with rain lashing down. Needs a bit more internal character but could be a real winner if gets some. 6.5

Great position with good views over the Haven on on sunny day. Beer was from Neath brewery and good quality.

The Swan Inn is a 200 year old seaside Inn which probably makes it the oldest of the three pubs in the small village surrounding the coastal cove of Little Haven. Although primarily focussing on food, as it has a ground floor restaurant and a dining room on the first floor, it still manages to retain the charm of a traditional pub and the bar area has plenty of polished oak tables, leather armchairs and a decent stone fireplace. And if you can get it the bay window seat is probably the best place internally for a view over the cove. The bar itself is a decent lump of solid pewter on which there are three hand pumps dispensing Draught Bass, Worthington Cask and Brains SA at the time of our visit. So not the most inspiring choice but good enough and the SA was a decent pint.
We didn’t eat here and the menu looked more gastro posh nosh than traditional pub fare and was certainly priced that way. But if that’s what it takes to keep three pubs going in this small hamlet then so be it, and the Castle opposite does more traditional pub food if that’s what you are after.
And on a good weather day there is a small garden area to the left of the pub which also provides an excellent view of the bay whilst enjoying a pint.
