There have been a few changes since my last visit 18 months ago. The Double Hop has been replaced by the inferior Trooper which is just a gimmick.
Despite decreases in duty prices have risen by 10p a pint so the Unicorn is now £2.90 and the seasonal beer is £3.00 a pint.
The Unicorn this time was bland and thin. The seasonal beer was South Island a pale beer with New World hops which although decent enough was thin and tasteless compared to what the new micros and even Adnams produce at a similar strength.
Once again no local people seem to drink in here and the superior settle bar remains unused as the staff don't even bother to man it.
I'm knocking the score back down to 6.

Visit April 2013

On visiting this pub again last week I must say that the beer was in much better nick so my score has gone from 6 to 8. I tried all three beers, the Hoptimus, Unicorn and Double Hop. The Hoptimus was outstanding. The prices have risen in the last 6 months and the Unicorn is £2.80 and the other two £2.90. I can't see how this can be justified in the current economic climate and few locals seem to use this place, presumably because they can't afford it.

The settle bar didn't appear to be used at all on my visits.

Visit October 2012

This is a Robinson's pub that in my opinion has seen better days and is simply relying on a main road location beside the Afon Artro in a beautiful village.

Three handpumps are now contained in the Lounge Bar only, the Public Settle bar having just a multiple keg dispenser. None of the three beers were in anything other than reasonable condition. It would seem they use a similar cooling method to Wetherspoons to chill the beer between the cellar and the pump. Personally I don't mind this but I'm sure many people would regard them as being too cold. The Robbie's Best (aka Unicorn) was priced at £2.65 and the Double Hop was £2.85. I didn't catch the price of the Seasonal Green Bullet but the prices are higher than I'm used to paying in London (obviously not Central London).

I tried the fish and chips, which was described as a fillet of cod in a beer batter plus peas and chips.

The chips were OK but almost certainly not freshly prepared from scratch, the fish was rather paltry, definitely frozen and something you would expect from the cheaper end of supermarket own brand products. The peas consisted of a boat containing tinned mushy peas that can be bought for 15p in Sainsbury's.

If this had cost a similar sort of price as Spoons charge it wouldn't be too bad but it was £9.50, a price at which you would expect to get something that required at least some effort.
If you're in Llanbedr and want to eat go to the Ty Mawr a few minutes walk away or visit the village shop to get frozen and tinned stuff to cook yourself.

I first visited this pub some forty years ago and it's a shame to see it not realising it's full potential.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Victoria Inn

Excellent Robinsons pub, offering something to all types of customers. The younger village residents tend to meet in the small Settle (public) bar, named after a venerable piece of furniture, with its old stone-flagged floor and dartboard. Older customers seem to prefer the larger lounge bar which has been extended to form a dining area. Outside there is a large covered terrace (with heating and lighting) and a very pleasant beer garden and childrens play area for the odd day when it happens not to be raining in North Wales! Three real ales - Unicorn, Double Hop and a first class Bizzy Bee Summer Ale at £2.60.

A good village pub with a selection of Robinsons real ale. A great pub grub menu, very good value! Also the pub has accommodation. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Can get very busy in the early evening.
