Located on the main road through this small village, it’s looks fairly unprepossessing from the outside and I would imagine many people just drive on past on their way to or from the delights of Padstow just down the road.

Internally it’s presumably been opened out at some point in to one large, open plan room. This was quite traditional in appearance with red patterned carpet on the floor (embossed with their own Ro’B motif, incidentally), black wooden beams on the low ceiling and rough cream plasterwork on the walls. A large stone-built fireplace was at one end with a wood burning stove, a pair of bellows and plenty of horse brasses dotted around the mantle. A smaller stone fireplace was at the opposite end, and there were also one or two areas of exposed stonework, principally archways and so on. An old Courage beer mirror was on one wall, as well as an assortment of photographs and pictures, some of the locale and others in a cartoon caricature style. Meerkats seemed to be something of a theme here, with various examples of them on the mantlepiece and a large selection of meerkat soft toys in an arched recess.

Beers on tap were St Austell’s Tribute and Sharp’s Atlantic and Doom Bar, whilst a further two pumps appeared unused. The solitary cider was Inch’s Apple. All in all I thought this was a decent and traditional pub with a friendly landlord, and I’d happily pop in again if passing.
