A Marstons pub that appears to have been opened out and modernised quite recently. There are six hand pumps on the centrally placed bar counter, with Wainwright, Hobgoblin, Pedigree and two seasonal beers. I went for Jennings Pie in the Sky, which had nothing like the flavour that the brewery's blurb ascribes to it, but on the other hand at least it didn't taste of mince pies. My notes made at the time describe this pub as a soulless place which has the appearance and ambience of the home furnishings department at Debenhams, a description I haven't been able to improve on or even soften since my return from Bakewell.

The Wheatsheaf is a stone built pub that is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, the pub stands in between the one way system.
This pub used to be a multi roomed Mansfield tied house when i first went in it the pub has now beeen knocked about into two rooms, the room at the front is quite large and it is U shaped the area to the right is more like a bar, there is a pool table, darts board and a large TV which was showing live football.
The left side is more comfortable with bench seating and normal tables and chairs, most of the pub is carpeted, there is also a large room at the rear of the pub which is used for people dining.
This pub is now a Marstons house and there were three real ales on the bar we had a drink of Pedigree and this was a fairly decent drink the other beers were Jennings Cockerhoop and Cumberland.
The pub was serving pub meals which were reasonably priced and were very large portions.
It was fairly busy with a mixed range of customers.
The pub was ok for a quick drink but there are better pubs in Bakewell in my opinion.
