Alex Conway left this review about The Griffin Inn

The Griffin is a very large red brick building in the affluent village of Plumtree. This is the only pub serving the village and after Green King sold it off 5 years ago has meant the locals have been without a watering hole ever since. Come summer 2019 and the Griffin has reopened after what can only be described as a mammoth refurbishment that really looks like there has been no expenses spared. No very much orientated around gastro dining and not aimed at drinkers. To their credit although the main bar area is very small the staff very incredibly polite and more than accommodating for those just after a drink. We sat outside in a landscaped area with large marble tables and very expensive furniture, not you everyday cheap Ikea stuff. I didint see the main dining hall but the bar area was quite modern but in a tasteful way that kept the character of the building and although not really my style looked rather ell for it regardless. The main bar is facing you as you enter and sports four hand pulls, Harvest pale, Doombar, a beer from Cahrnwood and Batemans XB (disguised as "Griffin Ale"). I don't usually take too well to house beers but knowing this was XB (a favourite of mine from an excellent brewery) I sampled it foe a very reasonable £3.40 considering the type of high brow place it seems to be. The beer was in pretty good shape and I enjoyed my experience here. Its good to see a local reopening and serving the community once again.
