I called in here on a whim, or rather because I wasn't sure my bladder would hold out much longer after 75 minutes on the bus back from Pleasley. It seemed only fair to buy a drink before using the recycling facilities, and fortunately the John Smiths Smooth was in pretty good nick, though I took the precaution of offering my apologies to the late Alan Winfield, just in case he was able to read my thoughts. No heavy metal at the time of my visit, but a video channel on the TV was showing some number one hits of the 80s, which was almost as bad. I drank up quickly and went for another bus.

The Ball is a stand alone pub that is situated on the busy mansfield road.
Once inside there was one large room with areas wrapped around the island bar,there were raised areas to the front and rear left and a pool table to the rear right,the seating was comfy bench type.
There was one pump on the bar which had Tetley bitter on,but this was for show only,so i had to have a drink of Tetley smooth rubbish which it was.
There was some very loud heavy metal music playing on the sound system.
This pub was ok for a quick drink.
