Centrally located pub very close to the theater. There are two entrances from either side of the two streets it runs down with one large open plan room on two levels as the streets are not on the same height with signs theses used to be separate years ago but have now been knocked through. As mentioned very quiet through the day but gets very busy on a weekend with the 50+ crowd out n the town. This keeps the feel of a traditional no frills drinkers pub but did seem very lightly decorated and quite plain, the interior is definitely not one of its strong points as it is quite large and open plan and
it can seem very soulless when not busy and quite uncomfortable.

There are two pumps on the lower and upper bar, Landlord was doubled up on each with Harvest pale on the top and Black sheep on the bottom. These are all permanent beers, they say there is also a guest but get the impression this is more of an occasional thing. My landlord was ok, a little flat but kept to a reasonable standard at £3.45 and about the going rate for town but no sparkler which I expect in Nottingham. Overall this place is not going to change the world but they open until 1am on Saturdays and serve a couple of decent ales at reasonable prices so cant be faulted too much. I always think places such as this in such good location could really be great if someone had the vision to do something with them, at the minute its a lost opportunity meaning a potentially great pub is sadly only an average one.

This pub used to be called the Hand Inn and was i think the only Manns tied house in Nottingham in the early 80s.
The Stage is now a largish pub with an entrance on upper parliament street ane one on wolloton street, there are lots of different drinking areas which are on different levels, the pub is fairly well furnished and there are always two real ales on and Black Sheep seems to be permanent the other beer changes.
It is fairly quiet in here during the day but gets very busy weekend evenings.
The pub is almost next to theatre square tram stop.
