Another decent pub which was quite busy when I called in. 3 beers on including Proper job and Shropshire Gold. I went for the Proper Job which was fine. Well worth a visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Star Inn

Community local, with a very well-attended quiz night in progress when I visited on a Wednesday evening. Nothing very remarkable about the building or the twin-bar interior, with the lounge extended by a conservatory dining area, but all is well maintained. Two front doors, but if you enter via the one beside a Cask Marque sign you see no handpumps. However, if you pass through to the public bar you can find three pulls on that counter, offering Doom Bar, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Holden's Golden Glow (£3.00) when I stopped by.

UPDATE: The pub has been taken-over and refurbished since the last review. Generally it is the same apart from changes the the serving bar area that creates a more drinking area and a food area (which has been reintroduced, and is very nice) that leads to the conservatory. Sky TV is also available. The service is friendly and it attracts its own mixed local crowd along with those scoffing. It has 3 real ales on now: Holden's Glow (very good) and Doombar (who knows) are regulars, with a changing third (recently Three Tuns Pale Ale and Sharp's Sea Fury). Great to see some life back in the place, although more modernised. Often visit for a swifty.

A tidy looking white rendered pub, with wood windows, consisting of two main buildings and a brick conservatory.

Recently refurbished, the interior is now a mix of the modern and traditional. It is open plan, with a TV area, down to a dining area in the conservatory. There is the green wall, with arty pictures, alongside brick, grandfather clocks and other memorabilia. Service is fine and the clientele mixed.

Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter on handpull. The bitter is decent enough. No MILD

I preferred it as it was, but the refurb is not garish, nor has it took away the character of the place. What lets it down is the bland beer choice. The Oak has real ale, the Swan has a MILD (i know this is my taste only),though its a nicer building that the Swan, that is why i dont bother
