This "pub" is now called Silk Roots and is predominantly an Indian restaurant, although it still serves those who just wish to drink.

This is a large country style pub with two rooms which appears to be quite an old building, if you walk from the car park through the patio area you will enter a large conservatory extension which is part of the dining lounge with a small bar counter on the right, a small brick fireplace on the left and a piano in an area just behind the fireplace where the entrance to the kitchen is located. The pub was decorated with old and new beer adverts and old maps of the area on the walls. There are two large brick pillars in the middle of the room which suggest that the room was not designed to be its current size and layout. If you walk straight through the entrance and continue forward down a short corridor and turn right, through the door is a long public bar room which has a slightly larger bar counter on the right, a large fireplace with a large tapered brick chimney breast on the left with a dartboard next to it and a pool table in the middle of the room. There is a door into this room from the main road but I didn’t see anyone go through it so I’m not sure if it is used.

Three hand pulls but only two in use on my visit, they were Green King Abbot Ale and Fullers London Pride, both well kept in my opinion. When reviewing a pub I normally ask who owns the pub and what the regular ales are, but I was with the wife and the in-laws on this occasion so I was distracted.

A good pub to stop off for a quick pint in the bar, or to take the family for a decent meal in the lounge, seems like a nice place for either due to the two separate rooms. The ales were not very adventurous but there were pump clips on the wall behind the bar which suggested that they have been more interesting in the past. I wouldn’t mind visiting again if I was in the area.

This place has changed a bit over the years - i remember winning a quiz here once.

Its quite a big, as it styles itself, country pub and dining place. The interior has the sofa experience, as well as wooden tables and chairs area, bar area and beer garden, of of which of sit together as uncomfotably as England, Scotland and Wales. It was clean and tidy and the chap serving was friendly.

The beer was the usual stuff, with Banks's MILD smooth, as well as three real ales, Abbots and Spekky, two regular real ales, as well as Flowers IPA, which was really nice.

Kind of place you take the wife, or girlfriend and family etc. Not bad by any means.
