The Millers Cottage sits behind a small picket fence enclosed paved beer garden that houses a couple of picnic tables. To the left of the pub is space for some parking and advertised on the wall is a rear beer garden that I did not visit during a recent Tuesday evening visit. This pub’s well-tended exterior and its location down a narrow tree lined road led me to believe that this would be a quant country pub, much like the Windmill a few doors along. This is not the case as the open plan interior feels much more like an estate pub. The focal point of the interior is the dartboard which sits upon a huge blackboard that is also used to advertise upcoming live weekend music and open mic every other Thursday. Live sport is advertised, but this was muted in favour of some background music off the jukebox. A quiz was advertised for two weeks after my visit.
The L shaped bar supports a standard keg range and two hand pumps that were drawing Skinner’s Betty Stogs and Otter Amber Ale. I found the service to be very friendly. This pub has a late opening of 13:00 during the week and midday at the weekends, but it is open until 00:30 every day. Although quiet, I liked the atmosphere in here and would have no problem returning is passing.

A great little pub that is a secret not to be advertised. Friendly staff and a real nice hideout. Don't go there and don't tell anybody because we like it how it is????

Hugely disappointing. Characterless and bland interior coupled with surly bar staff playing loud 'music' which seemed only to be for their benefit.
