Large open plan interior, typical Ember Inns food led style. Ten Handpumps in all with just three beers available, Black Sheep Twilighter , London Pride and Tribute, average fare and average pub.

Ember Inns rebuild of a classic Brewers' Tudor pub, producing a pleasantly comfortable and well laid-out interior. The usual emphasis on food but good for drinkers also, with well-priced ales including London Pride, Truman Swift, Tribute and their house beer from St Austell. Outside there are tables to both front and rear.

Malden man left this review about The Woodman

This is a food led Ember Inn but with a decent range of ales as per the brewco policy. The frontage is double gabled, Tudor style in black and white, inside there are various interconnected areas, split by shelving units and so on displaying vases and other random artifacts. A typical modern Ember interior really. There is a low ceiling, wrapped with small fairy lights, part wooden, part carpeted flooring, mixed seating of all imaginable styles. A couple of old arched see through fireplaces, one with feature stacked logs, helping to hint at the building's age and previous layout, as do the small leaded front windows. A selection of board games were available on a high window cill.
The modernity has however taken over and somewhat obscures these details, nevertheless it was an ok spot for a pint and to catch up on the cricket on the telly, a decent range of ales on too, Harviestown Old Engine Oil, Sambrook's Junction, Wharfedale Old Dinkum (a real lager), Sunny Republic Shark's Head, Kelburn Pivo Estivo plus a cider from Thistly Cross. No knocking that range.
Various events advertised including a live music festival in August.
The nearest Ashtead pub to the station, not traditional by any means but a good beer selection and the layout means there is always somewhere to sit that suits. Garden to the rear.
