Alan Winfield left this review about The Countryman
The Countryman is a good walk from the middle of Kirkby in Ashfield.
Once inside there is a smart looking so called bar the right, which is oblong shaped and carpeted, the seating is a few bench type and normal tables and chairs, most people in this room were having meals,i had to sit on a bar stool, there is a separate room to the left which is set aside for diners only.
The pub is a Greene King tied house,i had a drink of Morland Original which was no doubt one of the worst drinks i have ever had,it was rancid,i should have took it back but it was only an half so did'nt bother, the other beers were GK Abbot and Old Speckled Hen.
Not worth the walk here, but it was a new pub for me.
Best left for the diners and not drinkers like me.
