Called into this 2019 Good Beer Guide pub yesterday and we enjoyed our Digfield Fools Nook beer. The pub has low ceilings and exposed beams, a bar area and restaurant area. Garden area at the rear.

I Read the below link and thought this place would be a quaint country pub with some character flaws...... Unfortunately It's much much worse!!! The dining area is like a really bad community centre, the carpets are grubby and stained, they look like a rugby team have been dancing on them in their muddy kit, The 2 sections of the front bar is like a really bad kitchen So looks and atmosphere wise this pub is the pits! All the tables look like they have come from a charity shop but all different, my table was actually broken but I didn't want to spend anylonger their than needed! As for food, I Eat litterally anything I'm not fussy as long as its warm i'll eat it, but I had the fish here and it was awful It was served with 3 tiny baby potatoes and what looked like a bag of steamed veg!I had to leave it, My starter was some Sweet crunchy salad mix from a bag, squeezy sweet chilli sauce and a sliced up pitta bread with a tiny portion of halloumi (Edible but just awful!!!!)for a desert I really wanted something hot to try and take the taste of the fish away (Thinking of it now even makes me feel sick) but I decided to stick to the cheese board as i'd been dissapointed enough for one evening, but the stilton did manage to over power my taste buds so that's alright....

All in all the only reason I have scored this pub so highly is because it does actually look nice from the outside.....Oh and if you don't like cat's dogs in the dining area don't go here! We had both a cat and a dog in the dining room whilst we were eating but to be honest by now nothing would have surprised me!!!!

NEVER AGAIN!

An attractive country pub in an idyllic village, just in front of a small bridge over a stream. Inside it’s not quite as quaint as you might expect, but it’s nonetheless very pleasant. The main bar area at the front is divided into two. To the left is a smaller area with a flagstone floor. To the right, a larger area with a mix of flagstones and red tiles on the floor immediately in front of the stone built bar counter.

The ceiling is quite low with plenty of beams and it sags considerably in places adding to the “olde worlde” feel. Fortunately there are a number of stone pillars and timber supports to keep it up. At the end of the bar is a fireplace with a stone surround and a sofa. A number of country life drawing adorn the walls.

The rear of the pub is more geared up for dining, and this area leads out in to a conservatory. The food menu looked to be a decent selection of dishes all priced at £8.95 for one course. There was also a board offering a selection of baps and jackets, and my prawn bap with chunky chips and homemade coleslaw was a decent dish for £5.50. They were also advertising a twist on the usual “curry and a pint” deal, with a forthcoming curry evening consisting of an “all you can eat” deal for £10.

There is a good sized patio and beer garden at the rear of the pub, and a small kids play area. In keeping with the village, all the play things are made from wood rather than the garish plastic that you get in many places. Staff seemed friendly, and it was very busy with a large group of walkers on a recent mid-week lunchtime.

Beers on tap were Milton Dionysus, Digfield Fool’s Nook, Adnams Bitter and Tribute. Ciders were Weston’s Scrumpy and Aspall’s Suffolk.
