Blackthorn _ left this review about The Turnhouse (JD Wetherspoon)

The only landside pub at Edinburgh airport, this is definitely the poor relation to it’s airside sibling, the Sir Walter Scott, especially since that one has recently been considerably extended and renovated.

It’s an open plan sort of pub, with the main walkway to the security area bordering it to the right and being separated by some low wood effect partitions. The flooring was some sort of dark wood strip, whilst there was pale cream tiling in front of the curved bar counter whilst the ceiling was just the bog standard airport suspended tiling. Some padded benches had been set at right angles to the perimeter walling in some places creating a series of booth like seating areas, whilst elsewhere were high tables and chairs, including some extra high tables designed for vertical drinking with no seating option. A number of standard lamps were dotted along the perimeter which was perhaps intended so create some sort of cosy ambience, whilst a TV screen was running a news channel, but with the volume turned off. Other than this there was really little of any note. Service at the bar was quick and efficient.

Beers on tap were a trio from Strathaven with their Old Mortaility, Duchess Anne and Timorous Beastie, and these were joined by Edinbrew’s Commred and Broughton Dark Dunter. Ciders meanwhile were a very pleasant Thatcher’s Gold, along with Magners and Strongbow Dark Fruit.

First of the two Edinburgh airport Spoons, this one is on pre-security side so publicly accessible. Long and narrow open-plan area against a wall, lots of brown bits of décor/cladding in a pseudo 70s (yet nondescript) style. Open down one side to the corridor leading to security gates, you can do a bit of people watching. Five pumps; 2x Doom Bar, Deuchars IPA, Stewarts 70/- (off) and Stewarts Edinburgh Gold (fair). £3.60-£3.85pp so expensive, more so than the Spoons at Stansted. I’d be more inclined to try the other JDW I saw - the Sir Walter Scott - next time I’m using the airport.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Turnhouse (JD Wetherspoon)

Nondescript landside airport bar, with no windows and subdued lighting but open to the corridor on one side. Three of five handpumps in use when I visited, with a dull selection of Deuchars IPA, Doom Bar and Pedigree (£3.20).
