Sitting astride the Somerset-Dorset border, this roadside pub was failing until rescued by the current owner, a chef who has built an excellent reputation for the quality of his food. There is a car park behind the pub and a pleasant garden from which to enjoy spectacular views across the Somerset Moors, giving a great view of weather systems coming in from the West, a good place to stormwatch. There is also a decked terrace at one side with tables and benches. The pub also does B&B. The bars have been opened out to form a single L-shaped room. At one end is a seating area with several leather sofas and a woodburner in the brick fireplace. The bar counter is in the middle, accompanied by several bar stools, one of which is a converted aluminium barrel. The majority of the room is taken up with dining tables, from which the view can also be enjoyed during the day. Food is excellent but expensive, though drinks were surprisingly reasonably priced. Two ales on draft, Dorset's Durdle Dor and Butcombes Moxee IPA. Well worth stopping for lunch, and I'd quite like to stay over some time.

The Somerst and Dorset border runs right through this refurbished pub, so you can order a beer in Somerset, and walk 2 yards and drink in Dorset!!. Good food and real ale, out side drinking terrace with views over the surrounding country side.
