This place doesn’t seem to have changed much since the previous reviewer’s visit. The ale selection is still pretty good, with Bass, Doom Bar, Tribute, and the Skinner’s pair of Betty Stogs and Cornish Knocker on when I visited last weekend. Standard pub grub type food was available.

It’s still very modern in appearance, with modern glass doors, bare stone walls, new looking balustrades and furnishings. It all looks quite shiny and new. The nautical themed decor is still there, and there were a couple of massive TV screens on (muted) showing the cricket. You can still take your drinks around to the terrace in front of the Pier House. It does still have more of the appearance of a bar rather than a traditional pub, but the decent ale selection makes it worth visiting if you’re in Charlestown for any reason.

A detached rough stone exteriored Georgian former quayside warehouse, turned into a pub in 2004. The pub and eatery also has live music and has a touch of a sport's bar about it. It was in the 2011 GBG and has some white wood panel, mainly as warehouse doors to cover the glass ones. The beer garden at the back is shared with the Pier House hotel next door, who i assume own this place too as it appears on their website.

The interior is an open-plan single long room, with a pine serving bar down on the left-hand-side. The decor is undressed stone walls with some cream and exposed brick, with wood floor and a red and beam ceiling. There is a pool table at the far end and few TVs showing Sky Sports News dotted about. The place has high bar chairs and general tables and chairs, but feels foody without being over the top. I didn't eat so can't comment on the food, but the menu seemed basic. There are lots of naval/sea pictures and ephemera around, including a model ship in a box and some lobster traps. There was no background music at my visit. The service was fine and the clientele seemed like it was a few locals up the bar and lots of holiday makers.

Beer; usual tap stuff with 6 handpulls including; Brains SA, Bass, St Austell Tribute, Sharpe's Doombar, Skinner's Betty Stoggs and a very good sharpe's Special.

I enjoyed my stop off here, as i do with most places. There is very much a feel of a bar rather than a pub, with the Sky Sports TVs and modern feel. Still, with good beer and a good choice, it is really worth a visit.

This pub is in the 2010 Good Beer Guide and we called in Monday lunchrime. The glas frontage is very unusual for a pub entry, but it does give a view of the Tall Ship in the harbour. Plenty of local real ale choice plus Shepherd Neame Spitfire in this former warehouse attached to the Pier House Hotel. As it was lunchtime we took a menu and went to the garden at the side overlooking the main harbour area. The garden is shared with the Pier House Hotel. Ended up with 2 different menus but chose food from the Pier House Hotel one.
