A low level modern 60s estate Sizzling chain pub/eatery in undressed and white painted brick, with patio area.
The interior has two rooms, a bar room, which i didnt see much of, though i think it had a TV and was in cream. The lounge is the dining area. It is in a fake brick, with arches and interior walls that create little area on different levels, with wood panel and the brick painted in green, cream and French mustard amongst others. There were some arty pictures on the walls, so it didnt appear so bare as other Sizzling places. The service was fine, the clientele mixed, there were TVs showing the world cup and the background music was varied and at a decent level. The food we had was fine.
Beer; tap stuff with an OK M&B MILD, along with Spekky Hen, Pedigree and Everard's Tiger on handpull.
This place felt safe (having been in some Sizzling and other chain family food places!). It had a good choice of beer, the food was fine and the service was good. I am often a bit critical of Sizzling (and other chain places), but this is a good example of what a gastropub should be like.
