This is a popular pub with beautiful gardens that has a bridge crossing a stream, and the watermill wheel itself is working. The mechanism for the wheel can be seen turning inside the pub. They hold an annual beer festival in June, and it was to this that I visited the pub this year, as I had not been since the festival 2 years ago. They do a good range of beer on the bar and serve food too. On festival days there is also a bar - b - q set up in the garden. We went on 24th June and had Skinners Jules and an excellent Branscombe Draymans Best from the beer marquee in the garden, and Bays Devon Dumpling from the bar along with tasty soup and chunky bread. Went again on 26th June and the festival was going well with a band playing music in an open sided gazebo type marquee, and customers around the sunny garden enjoying beer and real cider from the main beer marquee with mouth watering food smells drifting from the bar-b-q. Lovely atmosphere in a great pub. We enjoyed beers from Milk Street, Cheddar, Woodlands, Penpont, and Lancaster all in tip top condition.

The above was June 2011, and the festival today was fantastic. They know how to keep their beers even on a hot day in a marquee. Food was good, the beer was great, and the music drifting over the garden made it a very enjoyable afternoon.

Chris Sawle left this review about Watermill Inn

Shabby chic, relatively new pub with slate floors and a waterwheel! Welcoming to two exceedingly scruffy walkers on a Christmas eve.
