This is a attractive mock-Tudor looking detached corner pub. It is in undressed brick, with stone string-courses and door and window surrounds. There is a main corner entrance above which there is a nice moulded stone name tablet. It is a music venue and apparently hosts comedy nights - the same signs are still present regarding 6 real ales and comedy nights, although now much faded

The interior has a couple of rooms. The bar is to the left on entry. It is in white and wood panel with a red ceiling and a very tired patterned carpet. There is a raised area, despite being a small room, for the bands/comedians to perform - i saw some drums and i think there was going to be music later. There is a dart board. The lounge is accessed via a passage way. It is also small and in two halves. One part is more loungey, in white and wood panel, with blue seats and a mix of Van Geogh art and landscape pictures on the walls - along with a dart baord. Then, down a step there is a pool table area, with a wood floor. There is also a TV here (not on). The ceiling is half red and half white. The service, once i got it, was friendly enough and there was a good mixed clietele, despite having a student feel initially. The music was decent - no chart tosh and at a good level.

Beer; the 6 real ales have gone. There were some keg drinks on although i am not sure what - i had some sort of bitter shandy when i finally got served.

The place seems to open at strange times, usually for music nights and so forth. It is a spit and sawdust place that is a little tired now on the inside. I would have liked it more had i really been able to have a drink. A shame that the 6 ales had gone. It is clearly popular enough.
