An isolated country pub which has to make an effort to encourage people to call in. This they appear to do by making it family friendly, dog friendly and apparently also welcoming to cyclists on their way to Llanfyllin. At least, I didn't feel unwelcome. There are three hand pumps with just one beer and one cider at the time of my visit. I felt that I deserved a pint after my two hour ride from Shrewsbury, and luckily for me the Skinners Betty Stoggs was in fantastic condition. I wish I could have appreciated the atmosphere too, but for me it was spoiled by some annoying pop music. So, an extra mark for really good beer, but lose one for the music. I think a 7 is fair.

Friendly country pub well off the beaten track , it has a two room layout with the cosy bar to the left of the entrance and a large dining area(shut on my visit) to the right .
There is a large wooden propeller mounted on one of the beams along with a variety of amusing signs and a large collection of pump clips .
Usual fizzy kegs and two handpulls with Cottage Western Glory and a nice Robinsons Dizzy Blonde .
Service was good from the chatty landlord and plenty of banter flying about with the locals who were a bunch of characters .
Worth a visit if in the area .

Excellent roadside pub. Large village bar and garden but notable for superb restaurant. Closed Weds.
