Of Sedbergh's remaining three pubs this is clearly the village local, with Marston's beers rather than microbrews on offer. Some other incomers, here for the county cricket match that I was attending, had also found their way here, and were tucking into the food offering and the beer (Ringwood Razorback & Boondoggle, plus ex-Thwaites Wainwright), but I got the impression that the other two pubs were soaking up the majority of the business from the cricket, with only a couple of disinterested youths behind the bar where the other two pubs had brought in a lot of temporary staff. I quite liked it here, despite the loud background music, with the unpretentious atmosphere and a plethora of b&w photos of local scenes to keep me amused, but the beer, although well kept and reasonably priced, was nothing to write home about.
