No real ale. I was persuaded to try the Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA 5.6%, the others being Belhaven Best, and Sharps Wolf Rock. The bar has an old tongue-and-grooved front with a brass rail for elbows, hooks for your jacket or bag, and a step for your foot; the step may have been originally tiled, but it is now covered in MDF. There is a back room with a pool table, and the gents toilet is down a passage outside. All in all, this would be a pleasant back street local, not far from the town centre and one to consider coming to again.
The beer? Oh, yes. It was cold and fizzy.

Small pub with front bar and rear snug. Going better after a couple of closures. Usually one handpull with Hesket Newmarket ale.
