Steve C left this review about The Open House

A sign outside the Open House advertises a games room, late kitchen, outside bit, fine art and film lounge. If I saw the games room it wasn’t obviously used for games and as my visit was late on Tuesday evening I didn’t visit the outside bit. I’m a heathen when it comes to art, but I don’t remember seeing any hung anywhere and I also missed the film lounge. Food is served from midday until 16:00 and from 17:00 until 21:00, which is no later than the other pubs of the area. Roasts are available on Sunday from noon until the meat runs out. There is a seating area to the right of the entrance and the bar is over to the left where more seating is found around the windows. There is a burner with a plasma screen above it that was switched off and I saw no sport advertised. There is some sofa seating behind the bar and some chilled background music was playing. A quiz is advertised for every other Sunday from 20:00 and happy hour(s) is 16:00 until 19:00 Monday to Thursday and 18:00 until close on Sundays.
The bar stocks Amstel alongside standard draught products and the lack of Guinness is made up by the presence of Murphy’s Stout. The four hand pumps were drawing W J King’s Brighton Best, Dark Star’s Smoked Porter, Arundel’s Trident and Cheddar Valley cider.

I didn’t find the service in here to be overly friendly and I think that there are pubs in the area with much better atmospheres. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here again.
