This is hidden down an alley just off the main drag. The exterior makes it look old but once inside it has had a modern touch. It still retains some olde worlde charm despite the update. It looks like its a Robinson's pub as all the real ale was from them on my visit. People can, and did, sit in the alleyway if they liked. Not too bad a pub.

Will Larter left this review about White Hart Hotel

Down an alley, or what in Kendal are termed "yards" and, unusually, having no street frontage, the White Hart was covered in scaffolding at the time of my visit, which gave the place a slightly gloomy or even claustrophobic air. This was not dispelled by the presence of a TV screen in the corner showing muted tennis from Wimbledon. On the bar was a selection of Robinsons beers on four hand pumps. The beers on the bar did not match the beers listed on the board outside, so it seems pointless listing either in this review. And anyway most Robinsons beers taste much the same to my jaded palate. That said, my half (of whatever it was called) was in very good condition and a good deal cheaper than most of the beers to be found in Kendal's rather pricey town centre.
