We called in as a family for dinner the menu was not what we expected but for a pub of this sort I guess you cannot expect much better we thought it was dated inside dark and not as welcoming as it looked from the outside made us wish we had stayed at the shopping mall for dinner instead. The staff were polite and served well and the food was ok as far as pubs go I have left a mark of 3 because I feel they could improve the decor and the menu we would not go back to this pub I can understand everything the other two reviews have said there are much better pubs in and around the area to visit and enjoy

Good sized pub on the main road through the village. Large car park and a garden at the side of the pub and around the back, although it's rather shady in the evenings unfortunately. There's a good sized bar off to the right and a cosier lounge on the left. The rear part of the lounge seems more popular with diners, and there is a nice outlook on to the garden. The couple running it seemed quite friendly.
The whole pub has got a bit of a 70's feel to it. That's not to say it's shabby, it's actually quite tidy, it's just got that whole look to it, even down to the vinyl covered place mats and the food on the menu (e.g.; prawn cocktail and a selection of steaks). Personally I would say the food was the one thing that lets the pub down slightly. I thought a fairly basic omelette and chips nudging the £8 mark was a tad expensive, and I noticed that ham, egg & chips was a tenner, compared to the £6.50 I paid in the Stoke Inn a couple of days ago. That said, there was nothing wrong with the food, it was pleasant enough with a good choice of bar snacks, the aforementioned steaks, and a number of specials chalked up around the bar.
Drinks on this occasion were 6X, Butcombe, and rather appropriately, Exmoor Fox. Ciders were Stowford Press and Blackthorn.

Dropped in for dinner and a pint after watching the mighty Aberystwyth Town lose to Bangor City in the Welsh Cup final, after picking it out of the Good Beer Guide.
Was initially pleased with what we saw - three ales on (Exmoor Stag, Otter Bitter and Bath Gem) and the menu looked decent (including a special 'we are allergy-aware' bit at the bottom which was good for Mrs Quinno, we assumed). The garden looked quite nice (though it was a bit late in the day to sit in it) and the two-room bar set-up seemed inviting.
It all started to unravel when Mrs Quinno asked if their omelette was usually made with milk. "It is made with milk" came the reply.
"OK - could you make it without milk...eggs and drop of water?"
"It is made with milk" came back the answer. So, they are apparently aware of what is in their food as regards allergies without actually wishing to engage with it. I could understand not changing an ingredient with a more complicated meal, but an omelette...? Perhaps they have ready-made omelette mixes...which is a bit lazy, even I can cook one of those!
Ah well, food should always play second fiddle to the beer, so I thought that I might as well give all the ales a try. The first two were fine but the third was bottom of the barrel and rather murky, so I took it back. It's fair to say that my polite request for a change wasn't met with the most customer-friendly response...a rather distinct harrumphing noise. Oh dear.
And finally the pub was also freezing cold.
I really wanted to like this place, but sadly events conspired against me. I wouldn't be back again in an awful hurry.
