Great little place used by us on a regular basis. Cater for my wife being Vegetarian no problem. Binfield Best and Good Old Boy, "ok just another then I must go".

I understand that the previous long-serving licensees have moved on here? Anyway the pub itself remains unchanged and there were a couple more ales on the bar than I recall previously. The mysterious Binfield Best, Loddon Hoppit and WB GOB remain, supplemented on this visit by Youngs Special and Caledonian Mcewans IPA. My GOB was in excellent nick and the Mcewans was also in good form despite being in taste little more than Perrier with a Budweiser top. Noticed a bunch of bells hanging off one of the beams inside, don’t recall seeing those before. Busy on our Friday evening visit. Still a nice little pub.

A revisit found little change to the interior but the fine weather meant I made the most of the lovely front garden, replete with giant willow trees. Four ales on at £3.50pp, Binfield Best and Youngs Special were middling, Loddon Hoppit and West Berks GOB were in good shape. Landlady seemed rather harassed and was a bit offish with certain people in our group (it turned out that there had been a large group of walkers in earlier who had cleaned them out of half pints but even so, don’t take it out on us wanting the same!). When asked about the provenance of the house beer Binfield Best, we got a curt “not telling you” which perhaps could have been delivered with a little more grace. A quiet pub, with no TV or fruits that I could see. Meant to ask if the side building was the skittle alley but forgot. Overall I still liked it as a pub despite the less-than-welcoming reception and with the Victoria up the road it’s a good double-header. Rated 7

A nice traditional freehouse with no music or electronics, just beer and conversation. The horseshoe-shaped interior sports various brasses mugs and bric-a-brac. Four ales available on my visit, with a heavily local slant (Loddon and West Berks) which tasted good. There's a nice garden, a skittle alley and food is available (dining area to right hand side. Worth a visit, combined with a short walk down the road to the Victoria. Rated 7

Superb pub and everything that an English pub should be. As a previous poster has indicated there is no music or silly machines. Lovely place.
