A very 20th Century suburban pub currently operated by Chef and Brewer in an extended, modernised 1930s building with a reasonable – if a bit poncey (not to mention disappointing) – food menu. The building has been developed into a large, low single bar with wooden beams, a mix of flooring styles, mute gaming machines and out-of-the-box décor. The staff were young, friendly and efficient, the clientele mainly the younger suburban affluent. There was an open fire at one end and low eezy-listening background music. There were 3 ales on draft; I had a pint of St Austell Tribute which was rather ordinary, not brilliantly kept, but potable nonetheless. Fine for a quick, if somewhat bland, meal with a pint, but there is no thrill of the chase here.
