As described by Malden Man, this GK high street pub is fairly bland, but the reception from the staff was genuinely warm and helpful, and the atmosphere was convivial. No food was available due to there being a large party in. The music on the jukebox was reasonable and it was fairly comfortable. Ales on were Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, GK IPA and Abbot, and Hook Norton’s Rocking Rudolph. The beer was in good condition, and I’d be very happy to come back again. It’s a much better bet than the trendy bars just up the road.

A J-shaped room with an open to the pub conservatory to the rear. There is a large pleasant garden beyond here. The pub itself is a fairly featureless modern fit out but with some exposed brickwork and different styles of boarded flooring possibly indicative of a former layout. A couple of arty-farty wallpapered walls featuring fountain pens and gin bottles designs. There is however a retained beamed ceiling. This was my first one of the day, not on a visit list as such but I needed a pint, GK IPA, Wadworth's Dirty Rucker, Radio X/GK mash up Amplified and Hop Back Summer Lightning (£3.75) in passable condition. Highlight of the visit was the arrival of a group of large Americans who were absolutely stunned to find that the lunch menu commenced at 12 noon and was not available yet at 11.20.
Nothing exceptional about this place but also nothing really wrong with it either.
