Steve C left this review about The Red Lion

The Red Lion is a Shepherd Neame pub that is a few minutes’ walk from Wadhurst High Street and there is a large car park out the front for those that drive. There are a couple of picnic tables by the entrance and I think that there is a small seating area out the back, but I didn’t venture through the rear door. A public bar is located to the left of the pub where there is a dartboard, fruit machine and a plasma screen that was showing rolling BBC news. I didn’t see ant Sky Sports advertisements and I do not recall hearing any background music. A short corridor runs from the public bar past the toilets and to a small room at the rear that houses a pool table. There are some saloon doors in here that lead to a rustic lounge type area complete with hops hanging from the ceiling and various other knick-knacks. There is another small area at the rear that houses four tables that were all set for dining. The food that I saw advertised was standard pub fayre that came in around the £6.50 mark. Master Brew was the only ale option as the Kent’s Best was off and the third hand pump was unused. The usual SN draught including Oranjeboom and Asahi were all present.

I thought that the landlady was a bit frosty when I walked in, but once she had finished opening the afternoon mail she came over a struck up a conversation. The ale range was a bit disappointing, but I still liked this pub and would have no problem returning.
