This is a decent pub with six hand pumps - swap out Old Ale and Good Chemistry Mosaic Smash from the last review and insert Burning Sky Nourishing Stout (my choice) and the Jaipur India Pale Ale. Not much change but then again last review here was only a month ago! Decent keg choice this time was the Burning Sky Arise, a personal fav of mine.

Venue was busy on my arrival early evening with solo or small groups of punters typically of around my age. Music was very background and it was lovely to hear the vibrant chatter coming from the surrounding tables (at least the ones occupied by other than solo drinkers). There seems to be a rota of bands here on a Saturday night - much more my thing than the karaoke of the previous venue.

If you googled what typical carpet would be for a pub like this I am sure the very design here would come out top of the search. In short, the venue has a lovely traditional feel. there are enough venues in Seaford for a decent (medium) sized crawl. This place would be on that but it would also be on the list if there were many more places here. It is a damn fine pub.

Old pub with the original door off the High Street closed (unless someone has left it on the latch). Instead, you need to walk around the corner into Church Street where a modern-looking entrance can be found behind a courtyard with what must be a marquee in the better weather. However, the ceiling in both parts - connecting into a L shaped layout - are equally low, and it all looks very traditional inside. Fine choice from a bank of six handpumps, including a pair from Harvey's - the obligatory Sussex plus the excellent Old Ale (£4.80) - plus Proper Job, Gun Brewery's Project Babylon, Aurora from Burning Sky and Good Chemistry Mosaic Smash. Same about the exterior signage in disarray though!

Entering The Old Boot, I noticed plenty of low beams and a dark interior, offset by a bright sunny garden at the South Street entrance. On the bar, some half-a-dozen pumps offered Harvey's Best & Old, Summer Lightning and others. A standard draught selection was enlivened by Oakham APA. Not that it was easy to get the info, what with the bar hangers rather getting in the way. Service was efficient though and the Old was fine.

There's also a wide food offering at very reasonable prices, and the portions are huge, though quality was no more than average.

There are a surprisingly high number of pubs in Seaford, and this one's worth a look-in.
