My previous visits to this pub have been at busy times, so it was good to be able to have a look around on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Well hidden down a small alley, and with a pleasant semi-covered beer garden opposite, this pub's existence was a surprise to my drinking companion. The bar counter has its back to the front windows, and there are six hand pumps: a cider, three beers from Theakstons (see photos), plus Caledonian Deuchars and a guest from Laine Brew Co. I went for the last named, a modern bitter, or "British amber ale", without any bitterness: Brit Hop Pale 4%. This was in reasonable condition but not really to my taste. I like this one as a pub but the beer options are a bit uninspiring; maybe next time I should go for the Old Peculier.

A glorious old alleyway pub, heavily timbered with some magnificent windows and fireplaces. It manages to feel more historic than touristy and is well worth a visit. Ales on were Theakstons Best and Old Peculier, Robinsons Trooper and Ossett Silver King, plus Rosies Pig cider.

The Olde White Harte is another classic pub in Hull's Old Town. It is accessed through an alleyway, which leads into a small courtyard with two access doors, one to the front bar and one to the rear bar.
Both rooms are small, but full of character. On our visit, there were a significant number of away football fans inside.
The ale range is a little disappointing. Theakston Best & Old Peculier are the regular ales. Guests were Dark Star Hophead & Ossett Yorkshire Blonde. In addition, there was a real cider - Weston's Rosie's Pig Rhubarb.
