A pleasant little pub in the picturesque backstreets of Beverley. The hanging baskets and wooden bench outside makes it look immediately inviting. Entering through a colourful stained glass door via a number of punters who had spilled out onto the pavement - it was absolutely rammed on my Sunday afternoon visit with diners, so much so I couldn't find a seat for ages and missed seeing the little snug. An upmarket country pub ambience, with traditional furniture and homely red and gold fabric bench seating. A Marstons pub with three of their expanded portfolio on (Jennings Cocker Hoop, Snecklifter and Thwaites Wainwright) alongside Pedigree, which bore no resemblance to those listed on the blackboard above the bar – the turnover of beer was pretty ferocious on my visit and there was almost no room to get to it to change the names. My half of Cocker Hoop was in very good shape. It's a good little stop but time your visit well, as I struggled to feel relaxed in the throng – I suspect my score of 7.5 would be higher otherwise.

Will Larter left this review about The Woolpack Inn

Away from the town centre, Beverley has some pleasant back streets and this pleasant back street local. It's hard to tell how old the house is, and it is not clear how much of the interior is original, but I spent a relaxing half hour here. On the beer front, there's quite a choice, considering all the beers are from Marstons: four were Jennings beers - Sneck Lifter, Cocker Hoop, Bitter and Golden Best - the bitter had clearly gone off, but it was swiftly changed for the Golden Best, which was in good condition. The others were Banks's Sunbeam, Wychwood Hobgoblin and Marstons EPA. I assume it had been a busy afternoon, as there were more staff than customers - in fact, at one stage I was the only one. The bitter had only gone "off" because the barrel had been drunk dry, so they must be getting plenty of drinkers in at other times to keep seven hand pumps ticking over. Definitely worth the walk from the town centre.

This pub is definitely worth the short walk from town. The pub consists of one main room, with a small bar on the right hand side. Also on the right of entry is a cosy snug with fireplace. The main room also has a fireplace and was lit on our visit. The main room is half carpeted and half timber flooring, the banquette was finished in a floral patterned fabric, which was very much in keeping with this country style pub. Six ales on handpump, so we went for the Ringwood Mauler which was in great shape.
