This pub looked out of place right next door to the petrol filling station, considering the age of the pub building. The interior in here was fairly basic and looked well run. The main feature was the Inglenook fireplace over on the left hand side of the main entrance, which now houses a log burning stove.
The manageress was friendly, along with a few of the locals sitting along the bar. Two handpumps on the front bar, however the beer is dispensed via stillage in the back room.
Two cask ales on our visit, Triple fff Brewery Moondance and TT Landlord.

A rather rowdy and sweary blokes pub, It's not evident that real ale is available here, only after ordering half a Lager did I spot a couple of barrels on stillage through a half closed door behind the bar, I didn't find out what they were. Live football was on a TV screen at one end of the pub with a jukebox playing the other. Not much to entice me back here.

The Bishops Blaize is a fairly nondescript boozer a short walk from Romsey's town centre.
I visited just before a Halloween party and the whole interior was darkly lit on a Saturday lunchtime and fully decorated in Halloween paraphernalia to the extent that it was very difficult to work out what the pub would look and feel like without the decorations.
I did gather that it's a one roomed affair which wraps around a central bar.
There wasn't anyone behind that bar so I waited for a few minutes and noted that the two handpumps had Youngs Special and Bath Forest Hare on with the barrels visible in the room behind the bar. The GBG 2015 notes that beers here a gravity fed so presumably the visible barrels are where it's served from.
No one appeared so, not really fancying either of the beers available, I moved on and haven't given a rating.
I don't really understand, given that there were only two beers available and one of those from a national, why the Bishops Blaize is included in the 2015 GBG as I've been in numerous pubs with a wider and well kept ale range which are not included. Perhaps there just isn't too much choice in Romsey or the relative rarity of gravity fed dispense swings it.
