Occupying a triangular plot in the middle of this twee village (of which Hampshire has more than a few), the Queen in question is Catherine of Aragon, who made the trip from Spain to here in 1501 to marry Prince Arthur. When he died shortly after, his younger brother, Henry VIII decided to make her his first wife which the Pope vetoed, leading the way to the CofE. Well, so says the bumpf on the back of the menus. Yes, this is a foodie pub, albeit nicely-done pub grub is probably the best description after perusing the menu, with mains hovering around an average price point of around £17–£18. The inside has a central bar facing the entrance (slightly off to the right) and the room is a narrowish rectangle, rather dark inside with all available tables set out with cutlery. They had no truck with us solo drinkers and we were able to commandeer a choice of tables to the left of the bar. Just the two ales to choose from: Sharp's Doom Bar and Atlantic. A pint of the latter and a mini bottle of Prosecco coming to £14.40. Due to the lack of space inside, this is best appreciated on a clement day as an array of pub benches are located on greenery to the pub's right, us missing out as the heavens opened as soon as we entered the pub.

The Queens Head is a small country pub that is now more restaurant than pub, there is a small bar but nowhere to sit other than dining tables ,although there is plenty of outside drinking space with a small courtyard area to the side of the pub and a large grassed area to the front with plenty of picnic tables scattered around.Drinks-wise two hand pumps of which only one was in use dispensing the rather common and ordinary beer for this area Courage Best, the other had a reversed clip for the equally prevalent Sharps Doom Bar.So given the choice I opted for a half of Staropramen which tasted like ,well expensive Lager ,£2.10 for the half, but given I had just riden nearly five miles in near 30 degree temperatures ,it went down OK.I have to say the food smelt very good indeed ,but this is not a destination for the ale enthusiast.
