Attractive Shepherd Neame pub overlooking the eponymous open space in a hamlet just east of the National Trust's grand Knole Park. The multi-room interior is as pleasingly traditional as you would hope for in a country pub, and it also has a decent beer garden at the back. Master Brew, Whitstable Bay Pale Ale and the commemorative Celebration available from three of the four handpumps. Doing excellent business on the extra bank holiday Friday, and it looks like the new management couple are off to a great start.

Whitewashed and tile hung pub facing the village green close to the Deer Park at Knole. One long bar surrounding the central servery.A Shepherd Neame tied house: on our visit on a bright but cold February Saturday afternoon four cask beers were available, together with various keg offerings. I had a rather metallic tasting Early Bird, and a decent pint of Whitstable Bay PA.
I was delighted to find kedgeree on the menu, which was well presented,if a touch on the expensive side, though this pub does sit in one of the wealthier parts of the county.
In a popular walking area, dogs were welcome, marshalled by a forbearing pub spaniel.Unusually for nowadays, the landlord and landlady were on duty, running a well organised and friendly pub.
