As someone posted(rather unnecessarily) on another site, this is part of a pub , the larger part having been sold off as a private house some years ago.Perched above the lane in a quiet village, the largely single storey pub is approached by a steepish drive.A decked area by the door offers views across the Bewl valley to Goudhurst on the opposite hill.
Coming into the pub you find a dog friendly bar area, with woodburning stove and simple tables and chairs. To one side is a dining room, again simply furnished. For many years, this has been well known as a dining pub, and the new and enthusiatic owners are carrying on the tradition with an innovative if somewhat pricey menu. As seems fashionable today, the kitchen is open to the room:one disadvantage to this plan is the intrusive extractor fan busying itself in the background. As a cattle farmer, I was pleased to see ribs of Sussex beef being offered as a sharing dish:these were popular on our visit on a late January Satuday lunchtime, and it wouldn't surprise me if we returned to try 'em at some time.
A footpath in the woods opposite leads the the National Trust's Scotney Castle; a branch of the path leads to the hopgardens at Little Scotney, from whence come the hops for Westerham Ales, which often, but not today, are served at the Globe.I enjoyed a pint of Forest Hare, from Bath Ales, together with the ever reliable and locally ubiquitous Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter.Fizzy products are also available, together with an interesting wine list.
I hope the owners make a success of it:it's not too far off the hellish A21.
5/9/2019 Update.Since my earlier post, the Globe and Rainbow closed and eventually reopened in April 2018 as the Small Holding Farm and Kitchen. Now an award winning and pricey restaurant specialising in food grown locally or on its adjoining market garden,I think that one can rock up for an ale from its eclectic range of interesting local beers-bottled,cask or keg.
The physical building is as described before.Definately worth a visit when in funds.

A food-orientated establishment which always serves one of the best kept pint of Harveys I've enjoyed. The garden patio provides an excellent spot to enjoy the fine cuisine.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Globe and Rainbow

At one stage, this small village off the beaten track near Goudhurst appeared to have lost its pub to residential conversion. Fortunately, concerted local action meant that a smaller version was retained in part of the premises. Now mostly a restaurant, but with a tiny bar area selling Harveys and Westerham ales.
