Amazing place. Quite hard to get to, unless you are walking! There is no parking immediately near the properties and a pay and display car park at the top of the hill.

When you arrive, there is a cluster of white washed former fishermens cottages and the pub is in the corner.

Inside - a lovely log burner, bar at one end and rows of big, six seater tables.

There is a brewery on site, but I stuck with the Farne Island - which I am starting to love.

A great experience.

The Ship Inn is a fine looking white stone pub nestled in the corner of a now National trust owned three-sided square of former fishermen's cottages around a picturesque green. This is now justifiably a destination pub due to its onsite Ship Inn Microbrewery which was opened in March 2008 and now produces over 20 different beers.
Internally it’s not the biggest space being in two sections with the bar in the front section and then seating and a large fireplace in the back section and both having wooden floors and thick stone walls. But the pub benefits from the outside green which doubles as the pub beer garden in fine weather.
Rightly also renowned for its pub food, but we only visited for the beer and in this respect there are five handpumps on the bar and four of these in operation for our visit and these were the breweries Dolly Day Dream, White Horses, emblestones and Squid Ink and as well as the abv the pump clips give a good description of the beers.
Although the pub is worth a visit in its own right, this small pub's location is very picturesque and is only a few yards from the excellent Low Newton beach and nature reserve, and it is worth combining a visit to the pub with a coast walk either into Embleton to visit the pubs there or if you have the stamina around the Embleton bay to the excellent ruins of Dunstanburgh castle.
One point of information is that there is no parking in the village of Low Newton, so you should park in the public car park at the top of the hill (reasonable pay and display rates) and walk down the hill to the village.

Great little pub which was totally full when we arrived just after opening time on a very wet day. After an impromtu brewery tour we managed to get a seat inside to enjoy the wonderful beers on sale, accompanied by very good food.
