A busy pub just off the main road out of Nottingham. generic beer selection included Greene king IPA, Everards Tiger, Black Sheep bitter and Bombardier. I had a pint of Bombardier and instantly regretted it, beer was kept reasonably well but the pint itself was not up to much in my pinion.

This bar gets fairly busy especially for sporting events and is a running joke between me and my friends as being the longest wait time to be served at the bar than any other pub in Nottingham. On my most recent visit it was pretty quiet but that still meant me having yo loiter around the bar for a while before being served.

Aside from this you could do allot worse and is worth poping in for one if on Mansfield road and on the way to the city center.

As I passed most recently it was having a large refurbishment, i will comment on the result when next around.

Update November 2016
A full refurbishment by Greene King has kept the original bar and layout but the pub has had a large facelift with a new paint job and modern hard wood floors throughout. a little glitzy and modern for my liking but probably better than before. It also seems extremely bright and has lots of light colours and furnishings. Eight hand pulls available with GK IPA, Abbot, golden hen, Doombar, Black Sheep, Trooper red and Black, Harvest pale and Shipstons Gold Star. They gold star was reasonably if not a tad cold at £3.30. A moderate improvement on the former pub but not much has changed really. Fairly good selection of boring beers means this pub is ok for a pint if passing.

This is a John Barras/Spirit pub, which has of course been bought out by Greene King. There were a few ales on, including GK IPA, GK London Glory, Spitfire, Bombardier Gold, and something called Grosvenor Golden (not sure who brews the Grovenor Golden, but possibly GK). Food is available all day, with the usual pubco pub grub menu available.

Like other pubs of this branding, this one's been modernised to death, with the typical part flagstoned floor; distressed looking rough bare boards masquerading as flooring; artificially distressed furniture; too many tall tables and tall stools, white tiling behind the servery; fruit and games machines around the places; as well as TVs of course. The colour scheme's dull colourless grey and white, but on the plus side there was a dart board being enthusiastically used when I was in. There was a fair bit of outside seating as well.

This is a corporate chain pub. I very much doubt whether the influence of new owners Greene King will improve things. It was handily placed as we were staying in the hotel opposite, which was a mile or so out of town, but I certainly wouldn't make a special journey to this part of town just to visit this pub.

The Grosvenor is a large pub that is situated on the busy Mansfield road in the Carrington area of Nottingham.
The pub was an Home Ales tied house when i did my first visits back in the early 80s.

Once inside the pub has now been opened out into a large single room which has lots of different areas, the bar faces on entry and is almost an island bar with three sides and seating all around it,the room is carpeted and the seating is comfy bench type and normal tables and chairs plus a few tall ones, there is a raised area to the rear left and a small raised area to the front right which has a pool table and darts board.
There are three banks of pumps of pumps on each bar face, all seemed to have the same choice of Pedigree, which was a decent drink, two other pumps has GK IPA and Abbot waiting to condition.
There were a few TVs dotted about showing rubbish programmes, decent background music was playing.
There is also an upstairs function room which also has a bar,not in use on my Wednesday afternoon visit.
I quite liked this pub,one i could well settle in,the few other customers who were at the bar or walked past me all spoke to me,which is quite nice when my last visit here was well over 30 years ago.
