The Nell Gwyn is a small L-shaped pub that is entered from the right-hand side entrance. During a recent midweek afternoon visit the woman working behind the bar was playing cards with some locals sat at the tables to the right of the entrance that face a pool table in the right rear. To the left of the entrance is an L-shaped bar area with a central L-shaped serving counter that faces seating under the windows to the left of the entrance and tables and chairs across the front of the pub. A dartboard sits on one of the walls next to an ornate green stone fireplace that has some tiling and a bit of gold fleck. The televisions throughout were all off, but there was some background music playing. This is a basic, but friendly boozer that I’d use if I lived in the vicinity, however the option of only standard keg because both hand pumps are unused will put many off.

I've now tried visiting this pub on both a Tuesday and a Wednesday evening and found it closed both times. I'm not clear when it opens or indeed if it is still trading. If you can find a way of contacting them, it may be best to check in advance to see if they are likely to be open.

This pub was originally a private members club,it was converted into the Nell Gwyn pub at some point in the early 90s.
Once inside there is a smallish single room with the bar facing, there was comfy bench seating either side of the entrance and normal tables and chairs elsewhere, there was some decent background music playing on my dinnertime visit.
There were two pumps on the,but one was unclipped, this left me with a drink of Welbeck Abbey Red Feather which was a decent drink.
I thought this was a decent enough pub,i even went back in it later in the afternoon for a quick drink.
