Delightful large country pub which is always popular but not uncomfortably so, situated opposite the green and cricket pitch which gives the locals their other main preoccupation. The interior is still very much as Malden Man describes, with a mix of traditional flagstone floors, carpeted and wooden floored areas, low ceilings and beams, white and exposed brick work in the older bits and a more modern feel in some of the extended bits. Two fires were roaring away during our washed out bank holiday visit.
The red phone box is still there but no longer seems to house a jukebox, and there are display cases on the walls with objects on sporting themes such as fishing and polo. There is also a conservatory type area to the rear which I believe is used as a function room and hosts weddings etc. Traditional pub garden areas surround most sides of the pub and the farm shop is a separate building to the left past the car park. The pub itself displays ‘emergency supplies’ which you can buy after 5pm when the shop is closed.
There are six ale pumps with I believe regularly changing ales, on our visit these were Ringwood Best and Old Thumper, Gale’s Seafarers and Tillingbourne Falls Gold, priced from £3.55 to £3.95 two of which we had good pints of, but the other two pumps were unclipped. We didn’t eat here this time but have done in the past and always had a good meal.
This is one of those country pubs that’s really good to come to by whatever means in any season.

Occupies a pleasant position overlooking the expansive village green. You enter to the main bar area with its low black and white beamed ceiling, flagstone floor and wood burning stove. Two further areas are to the left and beyond the bar up a single step, and into what seems to be an extension. To the right of the bar is a sizeable well presented restaurant. The rooms to the left of the bar are carpeted and have rustic style seating as well as an old fashioned red phone box now containing a juke box. There is also an old game mounted on a wall which involved rolling ball bearings around an inner circular rail, the aim being to drop them into a series of tubes.
There is outdoor seating to the front, and also in a large grassy garden to the side. I believe there is also a farm shop somewhere on the site, I assume to the rear, but I didn't spot it unfortunately. A few people were eating outside, and the food looked good and substantial.
Beers on were Youngs Ordinary, Ringwood Best Bitter and Fortyniner, and Hog's Back Summer Ale. A real cider occupied another pump, sorry, name not recorded. One pump was unclipped.
A pleasant spot for a summer pint after a walk, I imagine it is equally good on a crisp winter's day with the fire going.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Parrot Inn
Well worth seeking out - this is as good as it gets (for Surrey). Peaceful location on the edge of one of the largest village greens that you have ever seen, decent beer, good nibbles on the bar, and relatively reasonable prices...
