There were six handpumps on the counter, and a sign by the door advertised real ale. But alas the handpumps were a relic from the pub's Wetherspoons' days, as the sign was a clear misrepresentation as they no longer sell real ale. Although they open at 9.0 AM, they don't serve alcohol until 11.00. My companion and I arrived a few minutes before 11.00 and as we were drinking pints of Guinness the barman was prepared to start pouring our pints so that they would be ready to purchase at just after 11.00.

Although it's no longer a 'spoons, it still has that 'spoons feel about it. Airdrie really is now a real ale desert now that the 'spoons has gone.

Sadly due to close after 19th Nov 2017.

Review from Aug 2017
--------------------

This is a conversion of a bank but inside has rather an odd layout. It's on three levels with the bar at the front lowest level. This rather resembled a betting shop with the horse racing blasting out from a large TV and blank Betfred slips lying around. Behind that up a staircase is the eating area and further back again an even higher upstairs area. Neither of these areas looked very busy. Although there were no signs outside, this one is supposed to be up for sale so I wandered if negotiating the "betting shop" followed by a staircase puts people off.
The bar has two sets of three hand pumps which had one available soon, a cider, Atlas (Orkney) Nimbus, Kelburn Jaguar, Orkney Dark Island and Broughton Clipper IPA. I tried all four beers, all priced at £2.09 and all in good condition.
I liked this one and think it would be a shame if it goes.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Robert Hamilton (JD Wetherspoon)

Larger-than-it-initially-looks 'spoons with a split-level interior housed behind an impressive stone façade. Not a lot of seating in the front bar area, but rather more up the central flight of stairs and the mezzanine above. Fairly restricted range of real ales from five of six handpumps, with the Kelburn Goldihops (£3.19) being the most interesting.
