Fairly typical 'Spoon's situated in the bottom of a dire office block but handy for the station opposite, the interior is pleasant enough if a little tired. Not much choice of ales apart from the main brands though.

Situated at the bottom of a relatively modern and uninspiring office block, it's a typical 'spoons inside, with its fair share of one-armed bandits, tall tables/tall stools around the entrance, and with loads of normal tables and chairs clustered at the back. There's a raised area at the back on the left, signed as a family area, and furnished with more normal tables and chairs. These were the only tables with condiments on them and thus is where I sat for my incredibly good value spoony breakfast for £2.99. And it was by my table that I saw the old photos of Flora Sandes on the wall, and the explanation that she lived in Thornton Heath until serving with the Red Cross during WWI, and subsequently espousing the Serbian cause and bearing arms in their army.

This is a standard 'spoons - or at least it was when I was in at around 11.30 AM on Wednesday morning. The beer and food were cheap and good; Wetherspoon's invariably offer these two pluses as a trade off for pub atmosphere.

Really quite a small 'spoons situated below an awful 60's office block, with a square interior, bar to the left and a raised section further back.Despite a CPFC match being on,the pub was not rammed although just two serving staff was an obvious mistake. There are two sets of four handpumps, but a cask festival IPA had run out, others were unclipped leaving a choice of Ruddles Best,Abbott,Youngs Special and Adnams Yuletide,an unexciting malty brew but served in OK condition. The pub is away fan friendly and on match days has a shortened and cheaper pub grub menu, with my food arriving swiftly and in wholesome form.
It's certainly one of the less impressive spoons, but as life is invariably all about relativity and given the other real ale options in Thornton Heath, this is probably as good as it gets in this neck of the woods.
