On a Thursday evening it was very quiet with hardly more than a dozen people in. It was still hard to get served with about four people queuing for a single barman!
There was also a "Tap Takeover" by Jennings/Marston's with Kelham Island Pale Rider the only free guest. This was drinkable but not as good as I am used to for one of my favourite beers. I was going to order food but found the experience so dull that I moved to the "eat in" chippy down the road where there was more life and atmosphere!

I think this one must have upped its game since previous reviews as I found it to be a decent Spoons. What Pub confirms my suspicion that it was once the sorting office for the Post Office next door. That largely goes to explain why it's not the best of buildings. It's a dull rectangular room with the bar on the left and a raised area to the right overlooking a patio. Unusually the only tall tables and chairs were by the windows. The furnishings looked fairly typical to me.
The bar has ten hand pumps which had one unused, only Salopian Shropshire Gold doubled up, no available soon and despite the cider festival still running, no spurious cider clips.
Other beers were the JDW Trio Of Doom minus the Abbot, Weetwood Oast House, Hobgoblin Gold, Banks's Alpha 5 Pale Ale, Rooster's Cream and Evan Evan's / Archer's Pale. I was here in the morning so had time for breakfast and a couple of pints all of which were good. I went for the Weetwood beer (£2.19) and the Archer's (£1.99). Although the menu stated that the standard guest price here was £2.15 it seemed to be £1.99.
Apart from the dull building which I'm not that fussed about anyway I found this to be a decent Spoons.

I'm afraid I've got to agree with previous reviewers. Its not a good Wether's. It was a pretty poor showing cask ale wise on this visit with only 2 guests mixing it with the Abbott and Riddles.
